Properties take longer to sell in 2018
It takes more than a week longer to sell a property in 2018 compared to last year, according to research by Post Office Money and the Centre for Economics and Business Research.
The report, which looks at housing data in 35 major cities across the UK, found that it takes 102 days on average to sell a property.
This has increased since 2017, when the same research found that properties took 96 days to sell.
Homes in in Edinburgh and Glasgow were the fastest to sell, taking 39 and 48 days respectively.
However, homeowners in London and Blackpool had average wait of 126 and 131 days.
Ross Hunter, spokesperson for Post Office Money, said that while properties are taking longer to sell, "this doesn't mean that interest in moving up the housing ladder is waning".
He said the Post Office has seen a rise in mortgage applications, with first-time buyers increasing by 12% in the last year.
