New Faces at Beltons

Following Hugh Belton’s retirement in March 2008 we are delighted to introduce Helen Thwaite as our new Accountant and Business Advisor.

Helen is already a Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT) and is about to sit her final Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) exams with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) in July 2008.

Helen brings with her a wealth of accounting experience with 7 years in Public Practice and previously 5 years in a Commercial role.

Helen’s main role will be the preparation of Accounts to draft stage, the production of Tax Returns and liaison with clients regarding compliance matters and general business advice.  She will also be able to help with any of your Sage queries.

Helen can be contacted by e-mail: ht@beltons.net

Helen is Beltons second ‘new face’ this year.  We recruited Susie Farrell, our Assistant Accountant and Bookkeeper, in January 2008.

Susie will be responsible for the preparation of accounts to trial balance and will be available to provide bookkeeping services to our clients.  Susie can also assist clients to set up a system with which to keep their own financial records.

Susie can be contacted by e-mail: sf@beltons.net

Charity Donations - Client Referral Scheme

A big ‘Thank You’ to our existing clients who referred new clients to us during 2007/08.  Our scheme managed to raise £220.

At the request of one of our clients we have donated £110 of this money to the Steyning Area First Responders (SaFeR).  Their website can be found at www.safersteyning.org.uk

SAFeR Responders are fully trained by the South East Coast Ambulance Service and provide an essential immediate service to support the Ambulance Service in the local community

The other £110 has been donated, at the request of Susie Farrell, one of our new staff members, to The Dogs Trust in Shoreham www.dogstrust.org.uk.

The Dogs Trust is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK.  They attempt to re-home 1000s of stray and abandoned dogs and believe that no healthy dog should be destroyed.

Beltons is committed to continuing our client referral scheme, but with a difference.  We will now make a donation direct to the charity of your choice and match the amount to Beltons nominated charity.

The Beltons website provides access to free technical information, articles and features – updated on a daily basis.

In addition it contains a wide range of business links and an interactive client login facility. We know that some of you use it as a first port of call for any business or taxation queries you have and we hope that you’re finding it helpful.

We hope too that our weekly newswires are drawing your attention to some issues you may not be aware of. If you haven’t yet registered to receive these, please do so via our website and see if you find them helpful. As always, we welcome your comments and suggestions.

We also regularly update the Client Zone section of our website with practice news.
